So fresh and so clean clean
Time for a fall cleanse!! The season is changing, and so are the plants. It is time to clean up your garden spaces. Depending on your state/city’s plant hardiness zone from September to December, certain plants begin to end their growth cycle. Zenith’s Garden plant hardiness zone is 8a, and you can find this information by looking up the USDA plant hardiness zone map on the internet. We like to review and recover from the previous season. It is a great way to pause and reset to get the most out of your garden. Here are three reasons why you should clean up your area.
#1 Pest Management: It helps to prevent overwintering of certain diseases. It also removes certain critters that damage crops that like to live under debris.
#2 Season Extention: Some crops, if covered and maintained, can survive going into the winter months. Crops like kale, spinach, carrots, lettuce, and more can be grown in the fall and protected against low-freezing temperatures. A manual Zenith’s Garden created about fall gardening can be purchased through our website.
#3 Cleanse: It makes your garden look refreshed and renewed, ready for a new season. This is a great time to start planting cover crops. Cover crops will be discussed in the next blog above!
What do I mean by cleaning up your garden spaces? I mean, compost any dying plants, cut back your woody perennials, pull weeds, and bring plants susceptible to cold temperatures inside if you want to continue growing them. Give love to your garden, and it will continue to give love to you.
